Construction
Built Strong. Built With Love.
Built by Habitat families and volunteers with quality materials used throughout the home, many of which are donated by our generous corporate partners.
Together, we are building homes, communities, and hope.
Our Commitment
Habitat Collin County is committed to building quality, affordable homes that anyone would be proud to call home. We use only quality materials and are staffed by talented and skilled individuals in the construction department. Our homes are energy efficient and built with the needs of each family in mind.
Whether building a home with Habitat Collin County or receiving needed renovation services through our Home Repair Program, each family will get the best Habitat Collin County has to offer in materials, skills, workmanship and design. We are all about helping families have a decent place to live, and the work we do says that.
What will you get
All of our homes are Energy Star efficient and built to withstand 130 mph sustained winds. It takes about 12 weeks to build a home, and they range in size from 1,000 – 1,350 square feet. Homes have two bathrooms and are built with three to five bedrooms.
Every home comes with a refrigerator and stove, which Whirlpool donates, is painted with fresh, donated paint, and is knitted together by the metal straps donated by Simpson Strong-Tie. Houses do not include furnishings or other appliances such as dishwashers, garbage disposal, or clothes washers/dryers.
About Our Home
Make it
Habitat Collin County takes pride in utilizing quality materials and employs sound building techniques in the construction of our energyefficient, affordable homes. House leaders are part of our full-time construction staff and serve as site supervisors on each build site. Each house leader works closely with the home buyer, volunteers, and sponsors to ensure that homes are built safely and efficiently and that everyone involved enjoys the sense of accomplishment and community participation our mission encourages. Whether building a Habitat home or renovating an existing one, we work hard to produce quality, attractive homes for working families.
Make it
We have several skilled and knowledgeable construction staff members who lead the building efforts for Habitat Collin Count. In addition, the Habitat construction team assigns a House Leader to every home under construction. House leaders are skilled and trained volunteers that oversee the job site throughout
construction. Every week of construction, we will have 20 to 40 volunteers sign-up and arrive at the construction site ready to work. Crew leaders are dedicated and experienced volunteers that are responsible for training and supervising the weekly volunteers that work to complete each home.
Strength-Stability-Independence
With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.
