Wells Fargo Awards $25K to Habitat of Collin County
McKinney, TX. (Sept. 29, 2026) –Wells Fargo has awarded $25,000 in funding to Habitat for Humanity of Collin County to build homes in this north Texas county. Habitat for Humanity of Collin County is one of 75 Habitat for Humanity affiliates awarded grant funding through the 2026 Wells Fargo Builds program to increase access to affordable homes across the U.S.
At least one in five Texas households spend over half of their income on housing and housing cost burdens are increasing among renters in Collin County, making the need for affordable homeownership more crucial than ever.
"This investment from Wells Fargo is about more than building homes. It is about creating opportunities for families to put down roots, build equity, and thrive,” said Stephannie Krunglevich, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Collin County. “This $25,000 grant will help us move forward with two townhomes on Kings Row, bringing us one step closer to making the dream of homeownership a reality for 11 more families in our community."
The grant to Habitat for Humanity of Collin County will help build homes in the Cotton Groves development McKinney, the county seat of Collin County. This Habitat neighborhood started with six container homes, a neighborhood amenity center, and playground completed in 2024. This was followed by a five-plex of townhomes completed in January 2026. The next two phases of this development, a five-plex and six-plex, will begin construction in September with completion expected in late 2026 and early 2027.
Earlier this month, Wells Fargo volunteers joined the Habitat for Humanity of Collin County team for two days, working on finishing details for the Lewis family home being built on Garcia Street in McKinney, TX. The work this team completed brought this home closer to completion, which is expected in early October.
This funding is part of a more than $2.5 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International through the 2026 Wells Fargo Builds program to help support more than 129 families in communities nationwide.
